Aument Named Chairman of Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee

HARRISBURG – Senator Ryan P. Aument (R-36) was appointed today to serve as Chairman of the Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee for the 2015-16 legislative session.

The committee is responsible for reviewing proposals to restructure state government, cut costs and improve government efficiency. In recent years, the committee has studied plans to consolidate legislative services and streamline government services.

“The inflated cost of government is one of the most frequent frustrations that I hear from Lancaster County residents,” Aument said. “I am pleased that this appointment will give our region a seat at the table in discussions to reorganize government bodies and restructure programs and services to prevent taxpayer dollars from being devoured by a bloated bureaucracy.”

“I am pleased to appoint Senator Aument to serve as Chair of the Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee,” said Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R-25).  “Throughout his legislative career, Senator Aument has been a strong advocate for fiscal responsibility and has worked to reduce government costs and protect taxpayers.  I have no doubt that he will bring that same passion and energy to his position as Committee Chairman.”
